The Plight of The Sea Horse

Every year, millions of sea horses needlessly die due to the unethical, often illegal, catching of these endangered species. As of 2019, approximately 64 million of these majestic creatures are illicitly harvested from oceans. Unfortunately, their fragile habitats are often completely decimated due to the insensitive and unmindful means of acquiring the sea horses. Seahorse Trust’s Neil Garrick-Maidment was quoted saying his team “had managed to persuade eBay to ban the sale of sea horses in the past year” and were “now targeting shops in the UK.” eBay’s decision to ban the sale of sea horses on their website was a selfless act that has saved the lives of over 100,000 sea horses so far. The already endangered sea creatures still face extinction, though.
