Collector of Souls

Her: “It’s good to see you.” Him: “I know it’s been awhile.” Her: “I heard you joined the army.” Him: “Yeah, that was a crazy ride.” Her: “I heard rumors in town. That you died over there...” Him: “You can’t believe rumors.” He knew she still cared. Her: “So, what kind of work do you do now?” Him: He held his breath, his thoughts screaming loud. Him: “I’m a collector of sorts.” Her: “A collector of what?” Him: “A collector of souls.” Her: “I doubt that very much.” Him: “You see that old black Buick? New haircut, new clothes?  They’re part of the perks, of being a collector of souls.” She smiled an amused grin, and patted his chest. “If you say so, sweetheart. But you’ve traveled far and need your rest.” Him: “You don’t have to believe me. Maybe it’s better that way.” Her: “Oh, you never told me! How long can you stay?” He smiled a sad smile, put his hand on her back, “Not long I’m afraid.” It was time that he lacked. He kissed her forehead, saying, “I know you’ve been sick.” With tears

The Haliai

In ancient times, the Haliai roamed the seas around Greece and Italy. They filled ancient mariners’ thoughts and fueled the sailors’ imagination. In Greek mythology, they were known as Nymphe Thalassa. In Roman mythology, they were called Nymphae Pelagi. Both phrases translate to ‘sea nymph’. The Haliai, also known as Nereids, were minor deities in ancient mythology. The Haliai (sea nymphs) would often be depicted as alluring and beguiling young women, riding the waves on the    backs of giant seahorses and dolphins. They could regularly be seen accompanying King Triton as he traveled, or following in his procession as he surveyed his waters.  Mariners would pray to them for a safe voyage and calm seas. Sailors, lucky enough to catch a glimpse, would watch as the sea nymphs would rise from their subterranean caverns and grottos in the deep. Singing ancient and beautiful songs while traversing the Mediterranean. The aquatic beauties’ voices so alluring and bewitching, even Hera herself

The Plight of The Sea Horse

Image
Every year, millions of sea horses needlessly die due to the unethical, often illegal, catching of these endangered species. As of 2019, approximately 64 million of these majestic creatures are illicitly harvested from oceans. Unfortunately, their fragile habitats are often completely decimated due to the insensitive and unmindful means of acquiring the sea horses. Seahorse Trust’s Neil Garrick-Maidment was quoted saying his team “had managed to persuade eBay to ban the sale of sea horses in the past year” and were “now targeting shops in the UK.” eBay’s decision to ban the sale of sea horses on their website was a selfless act that has saved the lives of over 100,000 sea horses so far. The already endangered sea creatures still face extinction, though. In part, due to the unethical purchasing from businesses who either don’t know or don’t care about these noble animals’ plight.  Their genus is the Hippocampus, which means quite literally, horse-sea monster. The Hippocampus genus inclu

How is burning bibles and the American flag actually going to help anything? Destroying those two items accomplishes absolutely nothing! I feel like these protesters are purposely trying to destroy America and Christianity. In my opinion, anyone caught burning an American flag should be charged with treason. It’s way past being about George Floyd or police brutality. This is nothing but pure hatred and evilness. It’s needs to stop.  #BlueLivesMatter #SaveChristianity #SaveOurFaith

More Tolerance, More Kindness

Image
There’s a point of no return once we move past mere acceptance, straight into denying ourselves our own civil rights and liberties. We live in a country where it has become unacceptable to pray in public, pray in schools, and recite the American pledge of allegiance, in America! A country where one cannot even say ‘Merry Christmas’ to another person without fear of offending someone.  Despite what some may believe, America was founded on a devout belief in God and a deeply profound pride in one’s country. Our forefathers founded our nation, the birthplace of freedom, on these two important principles. Yet every day we are shamed into giving up our rights and beliefs to accommodate those who are too close-minded to do the same for us. We are made to feel ashamed of who we are as Christians and Patriots. We are made to feel guilt-ridden, shamed into what is “normal” or “acceptable” in society just to please others, and to avoid offending someone. I’m not saying any of this to be purposel

#Me Too

Image
The #Me Too movement certainly seems to have caught its second wind. Now it’s members are going after Bill Clinton, and rightfully so. He was not only good friends with Jeffrey Epstein, but also traveled extensively with him. He may not have been involved in Epstein’s dirty deeds, but Clinton was certainly at least somewhat aware of Epstein’s egregious and appalling crimes considering the amount of time the two spent together. As I said, Clinton may not be directly involved, but at the very least, he’s guilty by association.

Free Speech

Image
I fail to understand why so many individuals feel as if their opinions are the only ones worth listening to. Some people either shove their opinions down your throat or call you a racist simply for disagreeing with them. It certainly seem as if a great deal of people these days react this way when speaking to anyone who has an opposing view. Last I checked however, this is still America. In America, everyone is entitled to voice their own personal opinions, EVERYONE.  Everyone should be able to voice their personal feelings and beliefs, without having to fear some type of retaliation or punishment. If you’re allowed to kneel without condemnation, then you should also be allowed to stand without receiving condemnation. Not just Democrats, not just Liberals, and not just Leftists. Not just Republicans, not just Conservatives, and not just the Right.   It’s also important to remember that individuals can disagree with one another and still remain friends. Only someone truly immature would

President Bans TikTok

Image
After much contemplation, as well as speaking with his advisors, President Trump has decided to ban the popular TikTok app here in the U.S. The Chinese-owned app has been a source of concern for the U.S. government for quite some time now. The president, along with other government officials, believes the popular app poses a huge threat to national security.  Add to the mixture TikTok’s history of oppressively strict censorship of videos, primarily any video that makes condemnatory statements criticizing the Chinese government. President Trump strongly maintains that he has more than enough information to warrant banning the app due to the high probability of the app’s potential for sharing confidential user data with Chinese officials. The president deems the app problematic with the potential risks far outweighing any probable benefits.  President Trump isn’t alone in his concerns, though. Several other countries have followed his example and are in the process of banning the TikTok

Portland Fines Federal Troops

Image
In Portland, Oregon, city commissioner Chloe Eudaly is fining federal troops $500 for every 15 minutes they refuse to remove a section of fence that surrounds a specific area around the federal courthouse. Doesn’t matter that the fence protects the federal courthouse from being demolished by protesters, all that matters to the Portland Commissioner is that it blocks a bike lane. Portland’s City Council stated “We are fining the federal government $500 every 15 minutes until it removes a reinforced fence in front of the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse.” Commissioner Eudaly was quoted saying “We are assessing the maximum fine of $500 for every 15 minutes the fence obstructs our street, and we are investigating other legal remedies available to us.”  “The structure completely obstructs the bike lane and needs to be removed promptly," wrote PBOT director Chris Warner. "Failure to remove will constitute a Class I violation of City Code and Transportation Administrative Rules d

The Failed Me Too Movement

Image
The “Me Too” movement has lost its way. The “Me Too” movement that once protected victims of assault has sadly become nothing more than a modern day witch-hunt. One cannot even hug, pat an individual on the back, or ask someone out on a date, without fearing that they themselves may be accused of sexual misconduct. Which seems to be an ongoing theme in society today. The U.S. being the primary country where this has become a common everyday occurrence.  Heaven help anyone who is accused of such behavior. These now blacklisted individuals sued for their entire life-savings in a one-sided court case. Their lives forever ruined. Finding themselves suddenly unemployed, their families torn apart, and facing possible incarceration. All because an attention starved individual wants their 15 minutes of fame. It’s completely heartbreaking!  In a few cases, no real proof ever being presented to the judge or jury. And in other cases, judges are presented with undeniable proof of innocence, but th

The Evil Eye

Image
The evil eye protection charm is a blue talisman that is round in shape, typically made of glass. The talisman contains an outer dark blue circle, an inner white circle, followed by an innermost light blue circle with a black dot (as in the eye’s pupil) painted on it. It is a protection charm that an individual wears, or carries, to protect themselves from any and all unwanted danger and/or evil spirits. Legend says the evil eye protective charm calls upon an otherworldly presence that reflects any malicious and vengeful glares/curses from a spiteful individual. The spiteful person believing that an innocent person (the victim of the curse) somehow wronged them, and so wishes harm towards that innocent individual.  The evil eye talisman (or charm) was created to protect someone from this evil eye curse. Even though these protective charms are also referred to as "evil eyes", their purpose is to protect the bearer, not harm. Another popular talisman is the Hamsa (also depictin

A Land Of Opportunity

Image
America is the land of opportunity, the most free country on earth. A place where everyone has the opportunity to better themselves and accomplish their dreams, no matter where they come from. A country so free that any individual, no matter their ethnicity, can be anything. A country where any ethnicity can become doctors, lawyers, police officers, judges, and congress/senate officials. There are individuals of every single ethnicity who are singers, musicians, and movie stars, living in million dollar homes.  The simple fact is, whether we succeed or fail in life all depends on the choices that we make. No one in this world owes you anything. If you want a better life, then make it happen. I’ve known several people over the years that overcame every obstacle in their path, including growing up dirt poor, to achieve their dreams. Anything is possible if you work hard and never settle for less than what you deserve. Morgan Simianer, American cheerleader and tv personality, is proof of

Breast Cancer Awareness 2020

Image
Approximately 1 in 8 women, in the course of their lifetime, will develop invasive breast cancer. In 2020, doctors have estimated 276,480 new cases of diagnosed invasive breast cancer in women, in the United States alone. Approximately 2,620 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2020. That doesn’t even include the 48,530 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer, something that affects both men and women. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 883. About 42,170 women in the U.S. are expected to die from breast cancer this year.  Around the summer of 2018, I went for my very first mammogram, where they discovered two lumps in my breasts. One in my right and one in my left. Knowing that cancer runs in my family, I was obviously terrified. Both my mother and my aunt died from cancer. Both of them wasting away before their loved ones' eyes.  I was told by my doctor that she found two medium sized cysts. I was then told about th

Souls, Spirits, & Ghosts

Image
The soul is described as the cosmic liquid of life that fills the vessel (body) and gives us life. Souls, ghosts, and spirits, are basically, all the same thing. Though, I’m sure someone somewhere may disagree with that. Webster’s dictionary defines souls as “the spiritual or immaterial part of a human being or animal, regarded as immortal.” Spirit is defined as “the nonphysical part of a person that is the seat of emotions and character; the soul.” Ghosts are defined as “an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or become manifest to the living,” typically as a translucent image. But the words (souls, spirits, and ghosts) are often interchangeable in everyday conversation. Whatever you choose to call them, they are often reported as a transparent apparition, and in some cases as solid as any living person. Often the spirit is wearing clothing from the time and place when they were alive. Different types of spirits also include spirit guides, poltergeists, Will of the W

Control And Manipulation

Image
There are many different types of abuse, including physical, emotional (or mental), and verbal. Then there are those who seek their power, or enjoyment, from controlling and/or manipulating a person. Control and manipulation are also forms of abuse. And just like emotional and verbal abuse, being controlled or manipulated by another person leaves deep emotional scarring that never fully heals. None of these are acceptable behavior towards another living soul.  Controlling, abusive, and manipulative individuals never seem to question themselves or their actions. These abusers never bother to take the time to stop and wonder if they themselves are the problem. Instead, they simply choose to believe the fault lies with someone else. Always placing the blame on anyone and anything, never accepting any responsibility for their actions. They use their friends and family members for their own personal gain, and in return they needlessly complain that no one has ever done anything for them. Th

Multiple Souls Theory

Image
What happens when two souls are reincarnated into a single solitary body? First, it is imperative to understand the concept of souls. The definition of a soul is the spiritual part of a human being regarded as immortal. The soul is what gives the body life. The soul is the cosmic liquid that fills the empty vessel that is our body. Without one, we wouldn’t be alive. Second, it is important to understand what reincarnation is and how it works. Reincarnation is the belief that our souls are reborn over and over again until we finish our unfinished business here on earth. Whether that business is fixing a past mistake or learning a valuable lesson. There can be many reasons for a soul to be reincarnated. There have been several television series and movies that demonstrate this idea as a real possibility. Two such movies include the films  My Soul To Take  and  The Ward . Both movies represent the idea that the body can house multiple souls simultaneously, often without the individual’s a

It’s Called Accountability

Image
I’m honestly confused by how some people think. I specifically mean Radical Leftists. Radical Leftists, by definition, being those who believe anarchy is justifiable. Those who believe in socialism, communism, and marxism.  Many democrats, including Radical Leftists, believe in providing for undocumented and illegal immigrants. They place the importance of those that are here illegally over the importance of our own legal U.S. citizens. I cannot even begin to understand the thought process behind this. We cannot take care of our own U.S. citizens, like the homeless, repairing the broken education system, or overhauling the broken mental health system, but the Radical Left is all for financially supporting illegals’ housing and college educations. By them doing this, it means they’re placing the health and well being of illegal immigrants over the health and well being of our own U.S. citizens, which includes legal immigrants that worked hard to attain legal citizenship. All the while,

Real Life Mermaids

For as long as humans have been on this Earth, there have been tales of mer creatures. Fantastical beings living right along side of us, hidden in the depths of the sea, lakes and other bodies of water. From the Syrian goddess Atargatis to Ea, the Babylonian god of the sea. Of course Atargatis, goddess of the moon and water, being the very oldest of mermaid legends. While Ea was later adopted by the ancient Greeks and Romans to become Poseidon and Neptune. Both deities being approximately 4000 years    old. Then you have Naiades, also known as water nymphs. The most famous nymph, of course, being Calypso from Homer’s The Odyssey.  The most recent siting of these majestic and fantastical creatures was in 2012. Construction crews in Zimbabwe, while building dams, refused to complete their work. They claimed that local mermaids, known as mamba muntu, were violently harassing them. Fearing for their lives, the construction workers abandoned their work, vowing never to return to the job sit
