Spotify Releases It's New Music Policy


For those of you who use Spotify, you may notice some missing music on the website. Spotify recently implemented it’s new “hateful conduct” policy this past Thursday. Several artists have had their music deleted from the site’s playlists due to the new policy. The Spotify website was quoted saying, “We don’t censor content because of an artist’s or creator’s behavior, but we want our editorial decisions-what we choose to program-to reflect our values.”

The company spokesman said: “Our policy at this time is to not actively promote artists we feel are not in line with our values. We will not be removing their catalogs. This policy will evolve over time as we move forward.”

Two of Spotify’s artists that have recently been affected by the new policy include R. Kelly and the rapper known as XXXTentacion. No word yet on who may be next to have their music affected by this new policy. R. Kelly was reportedly not happy with Spotify’s decision.

Spotify’s new “Hateful Content and Hateful Conduct” policy will only affect those whose music contains content that promotes, advocates, or incites hatred or violence against a group or individual including race, religion, ethnicity, disability, etc. The site will also now have an internal content monitory tool “Spotify Audio Watch” which will identify any music that contains hateful content. The website has partnered with advocacy groups including the Southern Poverty Law Center.

I fail to understand why so many individuals feel as if their opinions are the only ones worth listening to. Some people either shove their opinions down your throat or call you a racist simply for disagreeing with them. It certainly seem as if a great deal of people these days react this way when speaking to anyone who has an opposing view. Last I checked however, this is still America. In America, everyone is entitled to voice their own personal opinions, EVERYONE.  Everyone should be able to voice their personal feelings and beliefs, without having to fear some type of retaliation or punishment. If you’re allowed to kneel without condemnation, then you should also be allowed to stand without receiving condemnation. Not just Democrats, not just Liberals, and not just Leftists. The Evil Eye

The evil eye protection charm is a blue talisman that is round in shape, typically made of glass. The talisman contains an outer dark blue circle, an inner white circle, followed by an innermost light blue circle with a black dot (as in the eye’s pupil) painted on it.
